Due to site constraint and track alignment, the orientation of the new station is sited perpendicularly to the existing EXPO Station. Two EWL viaduct piers located directly above the new station were reinforced to facilitate new construction. Several viaduct piers situated within the influence zone were also strengthened before excavation proceeded. As the Civil & Structural Engineers, Meinhardt Infrastructure worked closely with LTA to identify and mitigate the impacts to existing EXPO Station. The underpinning and strengthening enhanced the foundation of the existing station, allowing for excavation and construction of the new station to be carried out in a controlled and safe environment.

As a result, the construction works could carry out without disruptions to the functionality of existing MRT services. Any inconveniences to commuters and occupants of the surrounding buildings in Changi Business Park due to traffic diversion are also kept to a minimum.
