Meinhardt provided specialist design services for apron reconfiguration for five contact aircraft gates, three of which are designed for the B747- 400 aircraft. We also undertook airside configuration design and prepared functional specifications for new aerobridges and Visual Docking Guidance Systems for the five gates, together with designs to walk passengers across the parking bays to/from the rear door of narrow body aircraft. This infrastructure design was carried out in close collaboration with the Low Cost Carriers. Our role also included the concept and functional review of the passenger terminal redevelopment proposal, reassessment and enhancement of commercial opportunities, detailed design and documentation of terminal building services. The project won both an AIB Queensland Excellence and AIB National Excellence Award.
